Your Paint Job is the most noticeable way people will know how well you take care of your car. A dull or stained Paint job will make your car look old and run down. Keeping your paint job looking shiny and new is no easy task in the Texas Sun but there are several things you can do to help it last. We will discuss over the next two weeks how to get the most life out of your paint.
First be sure to wash your car often. Surprisingly most people do not know how to properly wash their car. If you wash your car incorrectly you could actually be damaging your vehicle.
Be sure that your car is out of direct sun light if possible.
Before you wash your car, be sure to wet it with plain water thoroughly. You want to pre rinse so that you get any loose dust and dirt off your car before you brush it. Brushing first could cause these elements to actually leave micro scratches in your paint.
Wash using a sponge or soft brush to avoid scratching your vehicle.
Wash and rinse your vehicle in sections so that you avoid having soap dry on your vehicle before you rinse. This can cause a dull film to settle on your vehicle.
Always dry your vehicle with a soft cloth. Not drying your vehicle will allow water spots to form on your paint which could leave minerals in the water on your paint. Over time this could lead to paint corrosion.
Washing your vehicle is an important step in keeping your paint job looking great and should be done as often as possible. Bird droppings and pollen should be removed immediately because they can cause un-reversible damage in as little as 3 days.
Check back next week as we discuss the proper way to wax your vehicle.
